I heart red lippie

I love red lips. I have done so for a really long time. The love affair began when I was a child as a ballet dancer. Come end-of-year concert time, I revelled in slapping on my drag queen-esque eye makeup, smothering my cheekbones with bright pink blusher and puckering up as my mum expertly glided on the smooth red.

I would rub my lips together non-stop until it was my turn on stage. The red lippie even made me dance better, smile brighter. Because red lips make everyone feel glamorous.

Now, even though it can seem higher maintenance than more muted colours, I don the red at every opportunity. I particularly love red lips during the day. In winter, it’s great to wear red with your darker hair shade, and boots. In spring, I’m planning to lighten my hair and team my luscious lips with a sweetie cardi, dress and sandals combo. I’ll whip my hair up in a ponytail or The Bow, and I’ll be the belle of the beach.
